This site has general information about the various things that I do - mathematics, programming, music and teaching/tutoring. The general idea is to provide visitors with information about my background experience and philosophy in these occupations.
This site is under construction, but I hope to have everything fully up very soon. I hope you enjoy your visit.
I have been actively involved in music for over 11 years and play guitar, bass and piano. I enjoy and am influenced by a wide range of musics including jazz, classical, arabic, rock and folk. I tend to most enjoy music that somehow stands out as being intricate, interesting, exalting and beautiful.
I am available for solo guitar and piano performances and for such performances typically play light, jazzy, bluesy background music. If you would like to hire me for an event, please contact me regarding rates as they depend upon the situation. References are also available upon request.
Enso is a band which consists of myself and two excellent musicians and friends - Grisha Krishenia and Colin Megill. Together, we play post-rock and experimental music as well as jazz. Grisha is a classically trained pianist, composer and music teacher at Spring Street International School. Colin plays drums for the band, spent time on the drum line at University of Connecticut, is one mean percussionist and also works at SSIS.
In time, we hope to have a website up for the band. Until then, I will post things of interest as they arise.
While at The Evergreen State College, I enrolled in a year long course in Audio Recording. Through that course, I gained a great deal of experience in the intricacies of the subject and have since practiced the skills that I gained through that course a great deal.
I don't have a studio set up for recording, but I do have a mobile recording setup for doing on relatively simple on site recordings. In the future I hope to expand on these capabilities with the addition of equipment which would allow me to record a greater number of tracks simultaneously. If you would like to enlist my services as an on site audio recording technician, feel free to contact me.
I have a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from The Evergreen State College. My emphasis was in pure mathematics, but I made a point of taking a good deal of applied courses in mathematics as well. After graduating, I had chance to employ and develop my mathematical expertise while working at Luxel as the on staff mathematician.
Since leaving the employment of Luxel, I have been working on a research project in the area of combinatorial game theory with my former professor Brian Walter and good friend Paul Lessard. This project has been on the back-burner for a little while now as I have been heavily engaged in other projects.
My journey into mathematics
While employed at Luxel as a mathematician and laboratory technician, I found that programming was a natural application of my mathematical skills. Within time, I had taken on a range of programming projects involving robotics, data analysis and database application development. To these ends I found myself using MATLAB, Maple, Ruby, LabView and simple machine languages.
Since having left Luxel, I have continued to work on various programming projects and am looking for projects to work on. If you have one, please get in touch with me so that we can negotiate an agreement. I am also happy to give programming lessons or tutoring sessions in the languages that I am familiar with.
At some point, I would like to provide direct access to my blog entries through this site, but until then, you can access those entries here.
